Book on the shelf

Book on the shelf

I stray further away from sanity
The closer you step to myself
You gaze write through me
As if I’m the only book on the shelf

The shelf that you built and broke many times more
I hope someday the pages will erase
Though theres several that you tore

Im not alone on that shelf
Some gather dust more that others
While some are reread
Yet we all end the same way
With the shelf collapsing
And you cleaning up the mess

One with a pretty cover
Thats displayed at the front
The blurb is enticing
Willing you to read
the content is blunt

One is much larger
Maybe double my size
Made me admire your consideration
Until you cut the ties
