Breaking Dawns

The break of day
causes much pain.
The bending, the pulling,
the kneading, the rolling--
my body isn't a punching bag,
yet somehow, people see me
as a target.
My gut is the bull's-eye.
They swing for fifty points.
Ding, ding
They won't stop, even when they win.
Finally, I catch my breath.
The end of the day
causes much pain
knowing there's another tomorrow.
