Breaking News

As the world swells
Of sorrow, of grief,
Of atrocities from hells
Or solitude - too brief.

Where tragedy trades unity
And intolerance is insanity,
Where communities are aching
And bigots seek vanity.
This world is often scary,
And confusing, for what it's worth;
Another angry shooter loose -
A plea to get off this Earth.
But please, for just a moment spared,
Think of those who stay.
When times are harsh, and harshly stand
It's the folks of everyday.
Folks like you, who've lent a hand,
In loss, in pain, in plight.
And when another comes, too soon -
We will all unite.

So hate may linger
And hope can fray
But I will always take those odds
Every. Single. Day.
