Bright in the Night

I was your light that burned bright in the night
Where you fed my flames, with your desire
I was your light that burned bright in the night

And as the night grew longer, you grew stronger
Feeding those flames which you coaxed from my bones
Licking your flesh, revealing your wounds
The warmth of my soul giving light to your world

I was the light that burned bright in the night
Burning the fuel, you doused me, drowning
Growing wider and taller, I towered above
And you feared me, the light that burned bright

Come morning, when the sun pierced your veil
You left me,
The light that burned bright in the night,
Ran out through the wide-open skies

Darkness returns, you call once again
I burst into flames at your word
I tower above, and your darkness expands
I was your light that burned bright
