Bright Lights & Big City
The bright lights of the city
reflect off the puddled pavement.
The sound of thin heels click off
of the chunky pavement rings
in my ear.
The brown trench coat draped
my body protecting me from the droplets
of rain falling at night. The buildings toward
over me truly scraping the sky.
The rush and rumble of busy
city life made me feel small, like I was
one in a million. The beep of the taxis
would make my heart jump every time.
The rats and mice climbed over
expensive shoes causing ladies to shriek
and shrill. Umbrellas were popped open
every once and a while one would bump up
against mine causing quick eye contact with
someone I'll most likely never see again.
Once I reached my small box apartment
I looked outside at the magnificent
view of the Bright Lights and Busy
