Broken Home

What is a mother?
And what is a father?
Not together is what I know for sure
Never knowing is
The worst of all
Always cared for by
Someone new
Never learning names of those
Who give love and then go
But what is a mother?
Does she, too, love
And then leave?
I see her only
On Sundays and sometimes
On Wednesdays
But will I ever know why?
And what is a father?
Does he go and never return?
Only to be seen
Maybe once or twice a year?
And what is a family?
Will I ever know?
