Broken Soul

The demons that I hide,
The secrets that I keep,
Outside a mask of happiness,
Deep down a soul that weeps.
It's much too dark to talk about,
Years of running deep,
These demons that I hide,
The secrets that I keep.
For each day when the sun will set,
The moon is sure to rise,
Tired, for the days are long,
Oh these sleepy eyes.
But slumber is no friend of mine,
It creeps in then it leaves,
Those demons I shall hide again,
These secrets that I keep.
Though hidden deep inside of me,
The surface is never far,
And within reach, I dig down deep,
But can't find where they are.
So hold it in, the demons win,
I never stood that chance,
Push it away, the sky again gray,
A broken soul lost in a trance.
