Bubble Gum Rule
I was to play outside til dinner time came
So I'd stay outside til I heard my mother call my name.
Also, chewing gum was against the rules
If I was caught the punishment was cruel
And mother had many rules.
One day I was given a piece of Dubble Bubble
And I knew I couldn't chew it at home
or I'd get in trouble
But if I only chewed it on my way home from school
Then, Everything would be cool.
I was no older than eight,
The time I chewed that same piece of bubble gum
For a month straight.
That pink chunk shaped gum in a twist wrapper
It was great!
Every night I'd stick it to the porch where it would wait
And the next day, without a doubt
I'd grab my bubble gum on the way out.
That's what that month was all about.
So no need to debate.
Yes, I chewed the same piece of bubble gum
For a month straight.
And yes, I would retrieve it from the porch day after day.
You would have to, with my mother, make no mistake.
Plus I was eight,
But I do understand if you can not relate...
