Buried Alive

Buried alive
When you left I was five
No memories to recall
Just faded echoes in distant halls
Never present, you were always past
The lead in my future
Your role was miscast
Emotionally bleeding, slowly each day
Until the anger subsides and the hate dissipates
I'm finally free
Now I can strive

Buried alive
When you left I was five
Now I'm a man
Proud of who I am
Happily traveling down destiny's pathway
With sons of my own to nurture and mold
even after they've grown
How unfortunate for you
A priceless lesson of cause and effect
For that I truly thank you
Now I'm finally free
with sons of my own
No longer buried, no longer five
and I'll tell the tale of how I survived.
