Buried Hope

You were already gone
Only a memory
Fragments of time spent together
Of time without each other
So close to me, but only a stranger
I knew you would never return
Endlessly, I hoped
A walk down the aisle
A grandchild's hug
New shared discoveries
I hoped.
Now,
You are truly gone
I buried my hopes when I buried you.
My pride has fallen
Thinking we had more time
Thinking there would be fewer tears
Less Pain
More hope
I buried my hopes when I buried you.
