Butterflies rush up and down,
through my heart and all around.

My stomach dropped when I saw you that day,
I'd give anything for the butterflies to stay.
Those bright days made me glow and sing,
I could handle anything that life would bring.
A fire started that you made,
I put it out and looked back where it laid.

Butterflies flew away with the years,
Sometimes when I still think of you it brings me to tears.
Now you're gone and made your own fresh start,
but you'll always hold a piece of my heart.
