Can Any Good Thing

It was a place with not much of anything to offer at all
it was kept off the wayfaring list
Of every single tourist attraction call

A bad place situated on the fringe of Jewish society
some two thousand odd years ago
An obscure city nestled in the nether region of Galilee

A place of notable ill repute
A place once given
an honest man's rebuke

It was said can any good thing come out of it
A place held in such low esteem
Yet out of this place came forth Jesus Christ
The Messiah --- He who would reign supreme

It was said by a man without guile
how can any good thing come out of it
Jesus Christ
Whose precious blood was shed
gave the best gift mankind would ever get
