Cancer’s Victims By Default

Not many things are so powerful,
That fear lies in the name.
And in a matter of one word,
Everything will change.
You transform from the tired to the strong,
While your loved ones acquire your pain.
And you refuse to become a negative statistic,
But your family's heart becomes your disease's prey.
Hopelessness consumes its victims,
But its fighters stand strong.
Sickness that steals everything you have,
And hands your suffering to others when you're gone.
It may be a fight never lost,
But it's also never won.
Those test results can never disappear,
They uncover the permanent damage that's been done.
