Cape Cod

There's a place that is dear to me
Where a strong arm bends out to the sea
A distinct part of this perfect land
With scrub pines, glacier ponds, and gold sand
I went there at a time in life
With my girlfriend who became my wife
She gained my trust and brought me there
A naïve man without a care
Cape Cod is where I long to be
The feel of its splendor is heavenly
The magic of bridges that link us there
Starlit nights and sea salt air
I know I'm not the only one
Who feels that I'm its favorite son
People who thought of this place like me
Names like Thoreau and Kennedy
I yearn for times that I can't compare
Grand summer days with weather fair
Friends and family who would come and stay
Or pay a visit for one day
I'll go there till my life's no more
And gaze lastly at its windswept shore
I love this land for all its worth
A gift from God set upon the earth
