Cease Fire

Can we ever
Be what they are?
They’ve got it so easy
Like driving a car

They can enjoy
A moment in full
But for us it’s tainted
By a toxic pull

If we let loose
Just a little too much
It all goes away
Our life and the such

A little too excited
Our loved ones panic
They’re so afraid
We’ll start to manic

They get to be
Whatever they want
To us few choices
Lest the haunt

Come destroy our lives
All over again
Then pick up the pieces
And apologize when

We realize what
Has been done
The guilt, the guilt
Weighs more than a ton

So when we’re happy
There is no cease fire
The war in our brains
Will never expire
