Cedar Glen

The birdsong
Sweetly heralds dawn-
Mist rising from lush lawn
And still pond.
Sentinel trees stand evergreen
Silently circling, serene
In cedar glen.
Silly squirrels scamper, chasing,
Bobtail rabbits bounding, hastening
From vine-filled grove, thick, leafy brush
Profuse with honeysuckle, plush
And primrose laced.
Wildflowers freely grace
The cedar glen.
Feathered forms find a place in paradise.
Canopy of winter-tested arms protecting,
Tender, branching limbs hold nesting
Innocence.
Birdsong is born, bursting into daylight.
Simple life emerges
In cedar glen.
