Challenge Accepted

You said I would never be nothing;
said I couldn't take it.
You thought that I was weak and
that I wasn't strong enough to survive.
Through plots, deception, and intimidation you
set out determined that I would fail.
I stand before you today saying take a
look at me now.
While you were going to and fro plotting to HIM my
head was bowed.
While you're busy overlooking and underestimating
I was being prepared and equipped for the greater
that's yet to come.
Heart broken and tear-stained pillows there
was a book I picked up that encouraged me he was God
in spite of.
Disappointed and at an all time low not only did he tell
me to be of good cheer, he told me to look to the hills.
Take a good look I say;
indirectly you challenged me. You challenged me to
stand, to show up for the battle, to smile through
my tears and to face my fears.
You were my stepping stone and I thank you for playing your part.
Most of all I thank you for making me keep God first in my life.
