Why am I crying?
Heaving and sighing
From hearing about the deaths from shootings on the street
While I stay here, sleeping obliviously under my bed sheets
There needs to be a change
Which seems to be a concept so strange
In today’s society
Change does not come by building a border wall
No matter how strong or tall
Or racist messages being scrawled
On a public bathroom stall
Change comes by looking out for one another
Seeing everyone as sisters and brothers
Everyday being the best that you can be
Let there be change; that is my only plea.
