Changing Emotions

People of the country, children of the corn,
Living in squalor, subject of scorn,
people poor living in a world that's third,
Poverty soaring ever higher like a bird,
This is a list short and few,
Full of people having it worse than you,
I had a daddy, had a mamma too,
Does this make my problems any less real to you,
My brother took his life before it was over,
Now I walk meadows looking for him not a four leaf clover,
Things of the past interrupting that of the future,
The time I saw you last you couldn't be any you-er,
I don't want to be together,
I left the nest looking for birds of a feather,
Whether I do or don't live forever,
My mind won't shut off there is no lever,
Sleepless nights full of distractions from the world,
Life's a roller coaster, I think I hurled,
Body in space, head in the clouds,
Stuck in this place, pushing through crowds,
World's too cynical, no one gets a chance,
Maybe the hippies had it right, we should all hug plants,
At least they gave people a shot,
Maybe it'd do everyone good to do the same
Whether it hurts or not.
