Chasing Dreams

One night you have a dream,
You feel that it could be done someday,
When you wake up in the morning,
And think, no, this has to be done,
This dream I had.

Days, weeks, months pass by,
The world still rotates the same way,
You still have little hope
That this dream will be found someday,
This dream I had.

Years pass by,
And you cling onto your shred of hope for success,
I have finally found what I'm looking for!
It was always right here in my soul!
This dream I had!

How happy you are, that happiness you have,
Makes you dream good dreams that night,
When you find another dream to chase,
The same story repeats again,
This dream I had.

This Poems Story

I am a seventh-grade girl from Cupertino, CA. In our literature class, we were asked to write a poem on some topic and I chose "Chasing Dreams." When we dream a good dream, instead of waiting for it to occur in the real world, we can try and find it. But in the end, we realize it's inside us-it's what we see, feel or think. When I shared these thoughts through the poem with my family and friends, I got enormous support and encouragement. Then I decided to share my poem with a wider audience.
