Chasing Shadows

I see you
Your silhouette in the distance
The small flickering of a candle aflame
I see you and I can't run fast enough

I hear you
Your voice pulling me in, as if by a rope
Every word I've ever heard your voice speak floods my mind at once
I hear you and I can't run fast enough

I run and I run and I keep running
Faster than my feet can carry me
The miles between us become meters
I finally reach you
And I fall

And all of a sudden you are nowhere to be found
I should've known it was too dark to see your shadow

I am sixteen years old and live in Pennsylvania with my parents and sister. I enjoy reading, playing piano and viola, and volunteering with my local church and youth group. I have a love for writing and hope to one day obtain a college degree in English or writing.
