Child of God

By

She was earth bound and chained
Shackled at the ankles and wrists
Hopeless and sad
Awaiting an end that took too long to come

She couldn’t find happiness
Even in cards and crystals
At a table with other witches
With broomsticks and spells

White magic brought out the darkness within her
But then He brought out the lightness she hid
He spoke to her one morning
Calling her by name

She woke up in a daze
Felt something in her soul
Went to church that day
And praised a God she forgot about

The light grew day by the day
She read the book she put down long ago
Replaced spell books with the Bible
And sang till her voice was gone

She finally believed in Heaven
Was saved in the name of Jesus
No longer bound and chained
Awaiting a place that they call home

She is a child of God
No longer a slave to sadness
