China Doll

Everyone seems to see me as a
China doll
They speak to me softly
As if one decibel louder
Would reduce me to fragments
Choose their words carefully
Fearing a harsh selection would mar my surface
Their touch is always gentle
As they cradle my image
Worried if they look away I'll slip
Leaving pieces of myself scattered across their
Immaculate floors
They place me high on a pedestal
Safe from the chaos in the world
Indifference clouding their eyes
Leaving them oblivious to my flaws
And the knowledge that
I have nothing left for the world to break
