Christmas

Christmas comes just once a year,
What do you think of when it draws near?
Do you think of the lights on the tree,
Or maybe the houses lit up for you to see?

Do you think of the snow all pearly white,
Or the red and green of the traffic lights?
Do you think of all the wonderful food,
Or the hot chocolate that will likely be brewed?

Do you think of the joy giving gifts brings,
Or knowing the carols that your family sings?
Do you think of all the places you have been,
Or all the times spent with your kin?

Do you think of the time it stopped war for a day,
Or remember the soldiers caught up in that fray?
Do you think of the star that once shown bright,
Over the Lord's manger during the night?

Whatever you think of at the end of the year,
Remember Christmas is a time to keep your family near.
