Chronic Pain
One day you wake up sick.
Just a virus, no big deal.
Then pain moves into your body.
Like being smashed by an ocean wave.
Knocked on your bum.
Life changes quick as a snap.
As the pain grows not fades.
Days to weeks to months.
Doctors and tests and meds,
and so many many tears.
And prayers, begging prayers.
Living becomes one pill to the next.
One patch to the next.
No answers are found.
Prayers become angry, so angry.
I am left,
Trying desperately to be happy,
in the midst of an all consuming misery.

Real life. I got a virus 12 years ago and never recovered. Pain is just my life now.
