Civilization And Its Discontent

I say to myself, what's the point
As my free hand rolls another joint
The older I get the faster life moves
Blowing my mind just like a Rubix cube
And less and less it seems that's out there to soothe my crazy young adult brain
Tried so many times, attempts in vain
I've been high and I've been low
To the top of Everest and way down below
All the way to rock bottom, lowest of the low
But no time to sweat that, no time for sorrow

They say this is life but I've got to disagree
There's no one out there who defines mine for me
Transcend civilization and all its discontent
I may rise and I may fall
I may stumble and I may crawl, I may shutter and I may shake
Still throwing punches just to demonstrate that I'm not going down this time or the next time around
Transcend civilization and all its discontent

I know it's so fucking cliche
But truthfully you've got to live for today
Because the past left the party about an hour ago
And futures have a funny way of falling down mid-flight
So find that apple of your eye and take another bite
What are your hopes and dreams for the night
Live a life free of sorrow and don't you dare look past the morrow

They say this is life but I've got to disagree
There's no one out there who defines mine for me
Transcend civilization and all its discontent
I may rise and I may fall
I may stumble and I may crawl, I may shutter and I may shake
Still throwing punches just to demonstrate that I'm not going down this time or the next time around
Transcend civilization and all its discontent

They say this is life but check again tomorrow
There is not another definition of life that I will borrow
This life is mine, all of civilization and all its discontent
I am who I am
I do what I do
Unrelenting, circumventing all the bullshit they are selling
It means nothing to me not a goddamn thing to me
Transcend civilization and all its discontent
