Coffee
As dawn rolls over her blue covers
As dusk put on her black sheets
My prized elixir
Has my weariness beat
Caffeine is a drug
And I am addicted
No hope of getting sober
No desire to either
The strong, bitter taste
That makes my mouth water
Hints of bark and hints of smoky fire
The essence of nature
Is brewed in my cup
The taste is so good
Creamer or not I still love
I need a few hours
The life it fuels me with
Its living soul
The brown beans are truly a gift
It soothes down my throat
The heat that pleases my mouth
The heat that barrels down my chest
The clarity is brings to my head
The energy it brings to my flesh
Oh how I need you each and every day
And to drink deeply of you tomorrow
