Cognitive Dissonance

I’m after the keys to the kingdom
You’re out here leading me
Into sindom

Are you a sign
Of the divine – sublime
Or taking me down a slow sure decline

This life isn’t mine
Is it yours?

In our prime
We will climb
The heights of our spirits
Washed in surety and awe

But your heart is melding into mine
An aching clawing raw bed of lies
But its fine
Because when I held your hand
I felt my imperfection
Not fading, remaining
But distilling, unappealing

In this regard love is blind
I see your flaws
But take them just the same
Because in heaven will be the refrain
Of childhood’s lost song
That echoes on through life
Distant but present

Sin truly slain
