Color

At Five, I saw eyes
Lives, I saw character
As a child, I noticed love
A heart
A person
A victim to the world
I was just a little girl
Play, let's play
Light-skinned, dark-skinned
Brown-skinned, tan-skinned
Pink-skinned, white-skinned
I saw no skin pigment
Colors lied in my coloring book
Crayola box
I shared with you
As I raced down to the river with you
Let's play
History introduced the separation of men
I read and couldn't understand
I saw blonde hair and blue eyes
I felt wool hair & full lips
But appearance never matter to me
Cause colors don't love
Human does
