Color Me Gold

I'll wait as the laughters dies down
Before I tell you the story of how black my skin is
you won't hear it die
The laughter never stops
Everyone seems to wish to see you become a color which
isn't your own
So please rip my skin off
Scrape off every piece of meat on my body
Color me gold
Tell me that my skin is something to become ashamed of
Oh skin, please don't cry as they color you gold
You'll soon start to shine to everyones appreciation
Don't brush so hard as you take a shower
Thinking you'll become something lighter
I'll leave you as confused as I am
As to why I must suffer to make everyone satisfied
Until then
Here lies the bucket of gold which I dyed my skin with
to make shine
