Color Regained

I am now a lonely stranger
unclear like when it rains
misty like when the fog consumes the street
my color has drained
I am only black and white as an old photograph
though there is something intriguing
like the smell after an afternoon sun shower
or when the clouds suddenly part,
as if to prove that once again the sun is back
like a green leaf falling from the darkness above
the glimpse of smile in the gloomy background
the shimmer of blue in the vast gray waves
I am a lonely stranger
I will become only a stranger
a dull tree sways in the depressing silence
memories of you flood my thoughts
waves pounding at the cracks of my mind
gritting my teeth to shut them out
letting themselves in, they tamper with my brain
all too much to experience
as a boat glides through the glittering glass called water
a magic unknown like the wind
I am now a lonely stranger
I will become only a stranger
color regained
