Colors of Rage

The rage is split between red and black.
Black is the powerful destructor
That annihilates all within its reach.
It seeks to destroy, seeks to decimate.
Black is created and built through hate and anger
Emotions that cannot be articulated, uttered aloud.
Only colors can speak to the depth and pain
Of something that can cause a being to perish.

Red is what the destructor leaves behind.
The poisonous and reprehensible remains
Of that which must be obliterated, nullified.
Red is fresh, bright, frightening, painful.
But colors can fade and lose the power
Created by their fierce fight to be seen.
The light burns out and the remains
Become impotent, useless, benign.

What is left from this harrowing battle
When the remains dissipate, dissolve.
What can be reclaimed, salvaged
From this ravaging beast of fury….
Or is all destroyed, final, complete.
Is it possible to peer into the eyes
Of the enemy and gain control
Of that which incapacitates…
