Confession Hour

She told him everything,
Trusting him with words she kept to herself.
She opened up wounds that hurt
Too much to share often.

He carefully listened,
Wanting to pay attention to every word.
He tried hard to keep her talking,
The way she could go on and on
Made him fall even harder.

She was astonished by his loyalty,
How attentive he could be.
She would question him too,
For she wanted to know him better.
She felt as though he cared too much,
And getting too close was leading him on.

Neither could express how they felt,
It was as if what they shared was
Too fragile to lose.

He knew he should,
He was compelled to tell her,
All he needed was a chance.
Little did he know,
She was never compelled to do the same.
