consumption

Consumption

You were like fire in my bones
Motivating, But consuming.
Making me feel heat
Internally and emotionally.
Only in the end Was I weak, exhausted,
And useless.
Like ashes.

You were equally parallel to an ocean,
Consuming. But refreshing
With every breaking wave.
Not only did you crash in me,
And crush me,
with every ounce to you
But you drove me to want more.
Just like the waves.
I kept coming back for more
Reluctant to believe
you were drowning me.

Now I'm flooded in my own tears,
Just like the waves.
The more you make me feel resentment
the more I feel like fire.

I chose,
With every intent of virtue,
To believe in all the little white consuming lies.

You,
On the other hand,
Believed I would stay
Whilst knowing your power.

Always
Willing to illuminate your dark mind.

Never
would I have known that your twisted ways
Would have consumed me
To the point where my torso
Felt like cement in flames.

Oh how foolish Was i to think you had a halo
When all you ever were was my conflagration.
