Contract

You signed up.
To want me to be the best.
To be happy when I succeed.
To care for me.
You signed up to love me more than anyone else.

You signed up.
To smile when you see me.
To forgive me whenever I mess up.
To understand I am not perfect.
You signed up to love me more than anyone else.

You broke your contract
To make me feel special
To pick me up when I fall
To push others down so I can succeed
You broke your contract to love me more than anyone else.

And yet, I will never break my contract
The contract stating I will love you through anything
The contract stating I need your respect
I need your love.
I will never break my contract to love you more than anyone else.

And after a few years
here we stand in front of each other, both contracts in hand.
I see your contract in pieces, torn up
then I look at whats in my hand.
Frowning because I never broke my contract, but you did
The contract stating we will love each other more than anyone else.
