coronavirus, you have taken so much
you have hidden our loved ones away from our touch
you have taken our plans and trips away
we are stuck in our home, where for now we must stay

schools have been closed now lessons are online
it was exciting at first, but now has lost its shine
we miss our friends and daily routine
chats in the playground and jokes at the canteen

we will do it forever if that's what it takes
because COVID has frightened the highest of the stakes
we will stay inside the home and follow rules
we will draw paintings, bake cakes and do homeschool

when the lockdown is lifted and we are allowed out
we will appreciate our freedom - without any doubt
before going out think twice,
wear your mask and be wise
after coming home sanitise,
and wash your hands with soap thrice
