Cover Ups and Questions

Can you please keep the light on for the night?
I need it to distract my eyes from what I can't see
It's getting old--trying to escape the dark
Nothing's really obvious when the world is covered
The blankets of black keep me still
There are too many questions lingering feet away
I don't believe I have the courage to find even one answer
This may sound deep with meaning
But it's really just a cry to the world
Expose yourself for who you are at night
Don't keep me in the dark
There are too many surrounding figures
None of them comfort me in these dreaded times
I'm afraid and alone
So please, sun, listen to me for once
Can you please keep the light on
Just for the night?
