Covid-19

By

I liked feeling their presence.
Muffled laughter,
Warm kisses;
My comfort in dark days.
Nothing more therapeutic,
Than the presence and touch of Human Nature.
Earth groaned at such treasure,
With its blue skies, trees and pleasure.
A pandemic to enslave men!
Causing economic and social disruption,
Extreme poverty, distress and duress.
An International Lockdown!
Now the streets are lonely.
The days are gloomy.
We do not go outside.
We must stay inside.

We wear the mask,
That hides our smiles,
And keep us safe.
This debt we owe,
Due, to Covid-19.
The wage is death.
We have become buried treasure.
Thousands by the hour.
It has great power.

No respector of persons.
The rich and poor in quarantine.
Every soul is threatened.
Will this generation be forgotten?
We find comfort in Isolation;
For it is in this we are safe.
Covid-19 has made us appreciate life more, I hope.
And realize how precious every breath is.
