Covid confrontation

By

I pull back the curtain, the door standing between
my shelter and an invisible threat.
A virus that indiscriminately invades the body.
What is confounding is that some aren't affected at all
and some get so sick and suffer,
medical staff performing heroic measures
to help those afflicted recover.
That same door keeps loved ones apart,
creating fear, depression, anxiety and
leaving an aching, suffering, broken heart.
So many questions and decisions, the world divided,
hoping that this pandemic is soon subsided.
Businesses shuttered, economic losses,
forcing people to find different bosses.
Creative new ways being discovered,
hopeful that the nation soon recovers.
Struggles are real, the masses appeal,
social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands,
are all the things heard across our land.
Stay strong my friends,
it will eventually come to an end.
