Crave

I won’t apologize for being human
For having a brain or heart

You sought me out and made me let you in,
like I was the chosen one

I am nothing again now
I asked for things I shouldn’t have had to ask for

When I asked for the bare minimum
You acted like I was asking you to bring me the moon

I haven’t heard a word from you in four days
I doubt that you are gone for good

When I see you on the street from a distance
I will look at the ground and quicken my pace

When someone asks me if I know you,
I’ll swear that I have never once heard your name

When you ask me if you can come over at 2 a.m.
I’ll pretend that I don’t crave you the way you said you wanted me to.
