Crumbs

Scattered pieces of opportunities
like crumbs on a table lay
to give a few away would be
a desecration of the human order:
The Haves and the have nots.

What a Nation!
Succumb some may to give
Some may not be so altruistic
Some may cloak kindness as
a ruse to get something else.

As the crumbs lay on the humble table
A few create a life from naught,
A few a life bought by selling their dignity,
A few wear it like a cable around the neck
The rest who are unable;

Crumble.
