Crying

We often cry for famous people
For those we think we know.
But cannot cry for those we love
Because we won't let go.

We join with a nation to cry for Jack
And a world to cry for Diana.
It's safe to cry when a world is crying,
But don't make me cry alone.

"You embarrass me," my husband says,
"When you cry in public.
Your mother died a year ago
You should be over it now."

I never cried when my mother died.
I was too busy making arrangements.
But now I cry when I think of the scene:
Dead in a car by the road.
