Crying in a storm
Lost in a hurricane of hale,
Blanketed under a sky of grey clouds,
A child wanders through the woods,
Trapped in a void between isolation and contact,
He thinks, “when will it all end?”
“When will it all go away?”
“When can I be free?”
“When can I laugh again?”
“Communicate with others without freezing up?”
“Get tapped on the shoulders without recoiling back?”
“Speak to a person without looking down?”
“Leave the house without the covers of the shadows?”
He keeps walking, he keeps walking,
He stops,
As if suddenly hitting a wall,
A child wandering through the woods,
Begins to say his thoughts out loud,
“Or….am I…?”
He wonders, he wonders and looks around,
As if scared to speak the words he deemed the truth,
“Or am I not needed?
“Am I not wanted?”
“Am I not important enough?”
“Not good enough?”
A child wandering through the woods,
Is met with no answer,
A child wandering through the woods,
Alone with dangerous thoughts,
A child wandering through the woods,
Left to heal their own scares,
A child wandering through the woods,
Fighting the demons of thoughts and words,
A child wandering through the woods,
Scared and isolated,
A child wandering through the woods,
Crying alone in a storm.
