Curtain Call

With steady hands, you light the flame
Casting our shadows on the wall.
Now we’re both frozen in the frame
Two ghostly figures, thin and tall.

You’ll pour our drinks, we’ll play our game
We cannot walk until we crawl.
When it’s all done, if you remain
With me, I’ll try and break your fall.

I understand, I know your pain
To feel so big, and live so small.
You don’t belong; I feel the same
The world’s a fucked up free-for-all.

Yet life goes on, and it’s a shame
If God were real, He’d kill us all.
And we’d have no one else to blame
It’s high past time for curtain call.
