Cycles

The cycle of the sun takes but a day
To reassure to man that all goes well,
To penetrate all life with every ray,
To bud, then flow'r, retreat back in its shell.

The moon unfolds to yet a different plan,
By using still the sunlight for its tale,
It charts the monthly calendar of man,
So he can mark the time the moon unveils.

And slower still, but constant in the scheme,
The earth reveals her seasons one by one,
So man can join with nature as a team,
To grow, to reap, to rest when work is done.

Has man a longer cycle to unfold?
He will not know until his end is told.d
