Dad, on My Wedding Day

You arrive in a car to take me away
When you see me, you stop and stare and say,
How proud you are with a glare in your eye
Then rush out the door, because time is going by.
On our way there, the nerves are growing
I know your nervous too, although its not showing
Step out of the car with your helping hand
and give me your blessing for a moment we stand,
Once again staring with that very same look
and say to me, as if from a book..
"I know for sure you'll have a great life,
and together you'll make a great man and wife.
I know he will take care of you and he makes you smile
Now take my arm and lets walk down that aisle"
Arm and arm walking towards the door,
I think of you.. what you'd have said and wore
It hurts that you couldn't be here for this day,
To say all these things and give me away.
We will save a seat, on the table next to me
Because although we cant see you, I know were you'll be.
Love you always.
