Daddy’s Little Girl

Before the alter, late one night,
I saw a small child there:
Her head was bowed in reverence
As she prayed this humble prayer.

"Dear Lord, please send my daddy home,
He's been away for so long:
I know he's sorry for what he did
and he knows that it was wrong.

Mommy say he loves us,
and would buy me many toys:
And God I need my daddy
just like other little girls and boys.
And I know he cares about us Lord,
because he writes us every week.
And when mommy reads his letters
I see tears roll down her cheek.

Now, Lord I know you're awfully busy,
But I'm sure that you can see:
just how much we love and miss him, Lord.
Please, please send my daddy home to me."
