Dads Legacy To Me

Dad you were my pattern for fatherhood.
When I came to be a Father you made me strong.
Strong was how you raised me as only you could.
I saw you weep only when you lost your father.
You taught me to incourage my children when worries come.
By strength the child will calmly know all is well.

The dreaded disease that robs the mind has hard on you.
We watched helplessly as every day a piece of you left us.
I could look into your eyes and see a message from you.
"I really don't want to do this, this is somebody else doing this."
The tears would fall down his face in frustration.

He did not want us to see the tears as he turned downward,
Strength is what he was and did not want to show as coward.
Dad,"It is alright we know your inner strength is still there"
His last hours, with his last gasps I knelt by him and his watered
eyes met mine. I wept with him as he wept when his father passed.

Our faith has brought the hope of a reunion some day.
We will embrace with the strength of father and son.
