Dance, Dance

Now don't you sit or slouch!
You best pull up those pants.
No lying on the couch!
You best get up and dance!

Now breathe and sigh and sway,
and blink towards the crowd.
Then breathe and jump away,
and wink towards the crowd.

And don't you rest a minute!
Your breath so short it pants:
your bones a maze and in it,
a heart that wants to dance.

Because honey, if we're going down we're swingin',
with a pop or a lock or a jive.
Yeah, if we're going down we're singing-
-don't it make you feel alive?

Now I said: don't you sit back down!
Be careful with your stance.
Their eyes alone could drown
in the beauty of your dance.
