Dancing off the rooftops

Dancing on the rooftops
Close to the edge but I never stop
One flip flop left my foot
To join the streets below
7 dollar drinks and college kids puking in sinks
Soft whisper of a bums mutter to his long dead mother
Toasting her memory with his last bottle of Sutter
Dancing on the rooftops
Far from edge but still scared to fall
Hard shouts of devout christian soldiers split the night
A caucus to save the lost
But most lost kings have no wish to be found
Its easier to drown crownless
Soundless beneath ocean blue
Dancing off the rooftops
I left one flip flop at the top
Flourished as I fell
To retrieve the one I dropped
